Portfolio Client/Competitions

Over the summer, I was supposed to choose my FMP roles.

I chose concept artist as my main roles. I am supposed to at least finish 20 pieces of artworks

but I did not because I am working on a 1 minute animation for another student.

She won a connect award in Ravensbourne and entitle a 1000 pound budget to complete her campaign.

Her idea was to use online platform to create awareness for people with invisible disease such as Lupus.

She hooked me up after looking at my BBC project and she like that style. Eventually I agreed to help her

as it would be potential pitch to British Pain Society and get funded.

Because it was a small budget, I only charged 100 pound for the entire animation, seeing that it was a charity, and might end up

into bigger project. And also I feel good to inform people about invisible disease.

She gave a me a month deadline starting on July with a given piece audio.

I managed to finish it in 6 weeks, an extra 2 weeks because I am going back to Malaysia during summer break

as well as summer holiday in Sicily and South Korea.

I started off the project pretty much the same with the BBC project. Storyboard > Ideas> Sketches > Illustrator > Photoshop > After Effects.

I keep updated her with my progression and she like my style so it progress quite well. Even though it goes well, but I admit that my animation is not good enough.

I only followed the script given. If it was a bigger budget project, I really wanted to make a decent animation.

They are lack of research in term of the way the patient act.

I wanted to go for Photoshop animation, but it was still new for me at that time.

In the end i pull it off with After Effects animation that look like puppet.

When it was finally finished, I got pay and it is also publish on her website which is

Competitions

Over the Christmas, I spent my time to improve my roles as Concept Artist.

I entered a competition held by Association of Illustration : The World Illustration Award.

I entered the category : Self Initiate Project

My aim is to finish a Children Illustration Book by the end of year 2017.

I start off by designing the Book Cover hoping it will get noticed and get the chance to proceed to complete the book.

My Book title is : My First Omelette.

As the process going, the idea progressed into my Final Major Project.

Below is the process of developing the Book Cover.

Submitted entry via competition website

Starting off with basic shapes and form.

*First colour block.

(Feedback : The colour seems too bright and contrast with each other, the main focus is off )

Trying to add some lights, Overall I think the light is washing off the image because of the colour.

Next I experiment with different colours and different lighting.

The outcome looks define now.

Final output submitted for the competition.

The Shortlisted or all applicant will be contacted by the end of April or Early May.

The other competition that I wanted to enter is the Rookies Award (previously known as CG Students Awards)

The category is Animation.

(*will be submitted end of May when the production/film is done)
